At G.I. GO’s first fundraiser of 2007, hundreds joined the
organization in a pasta dinner in support of our Heroes, helping
raise thousands for troops suffering from Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD) in the process.
Families from all across New Jersey were treated to an array of
assorted pastas and sauces, salad, bread, deserts, beverages
and live music form Central Jersey’s own Jersey Minx. The dinner
was hosted by the American Legion Post 148 in Hightstown, NJ.
“This was an incredible night for our troops. The American Legion
did great work in helping us provide for our troops and their
families, and we thank them for their support,” said G.I. GO Vice President Alexander Manis.
Along with the money raised through the dinner, the American Legion donated $1000 to the G.I. Go Fund
and its mission.
“It’s a great thing to see all these people here” said Post Vice Commander Jamie Thompson. “Some in this
country don’t realize that the war is not about politics, but about the men and women taking enemy fire to
make us safe. But tonight I see a lot of people who are putting their brothers and sisters ahead of anything
else."
The night concluded with Commander Thompson receiving a standing ovation from all who came to the
dinner.
"No matter what your opinion is, we still got soldiers out there fighting for us, and we need to do
everything we can to show them that we care,” he added.
While G.I. GO's next fundraiser has yet to be announced, all in the organization anticipate that it will have
the same success this one had.
"This dinner just shows that people know what kind of work needs to be done here, and that they will
always be willing to help," said G.I. GO Treasurer Majd Abboud.
