Elementary School Kids Show their Support

The love and appreciation for our troops was in full force yesterday as
children from Camden and Perth Amboy elementary schools took time
from their educational duties to provide dozens of thank you letters to
troops serving in the war.
The letters will be distributed to soldiers throughout Iraq and Afghanistan.
They will be sent along with the care-packages the organization sends to
the region to help our men and women reconnect with home.
G.I. GO believes that letters from children is a great way to show our
soldiers how much we here at home care for them and their well-being,
which is an important aspect in transition assistance.
Previously provided letters have been tremendously well-received by our
troops,citing the children's appreciation of their work as a strong motivator as they engage in combat.
“Everybody loves it when the kids get involved,” said G.I. GO President Jack Fanous “Our troops always
enjoy letters from schoolchildren. They know they are fighting for those kids more than anyone else, so
they appreciate the support.”
Many of the letters were provided by the city of Perth Amboy, the home of Carlos Gonzalez, the marine
who briefly lost his job as a firefighter while serving in Iraq. Since his reinstatement, the city has provided
great support for the military, including the introduction of the Soldier work shield bill, which would protect
an active duty soldier from losing his job at home.
"Our troops deserve every bit of gratitude that we here at home can provide," said G.I. Treasurer Majd
Aboud. "The letters from our school kids just show how much we care for our troops, and hopefully it can
give them a lift in the trying times of battle.
